Overview
A baseline survey conducted for the URBANO Project to assess urban vulnerability, community capacities, and disaster preparedness in selected urban settings. The study established baseline conditions related to disaster risk exposure, coping mechanisms, and community resilience to inform inclusive and risk-responsive urban resilience programming.
01Methodology
- Participatory vulnerability and capacity assessments at community level
- Qualitative data collection through focus group discussions and key informant interviews
- Assessment of household and community disaster preparedness practices
- Review of existing community disaster risk management structures
- Synthesis of findings to inform baseline indicators and programme design

- Established baseline evidence on urban disaster vulnerabilities and capacities
- Identified gaps in preparedness, early warning awareness, and community response mechanisms
- Informed targeting and design of urban disaster risk reduction interventions
- Provided a foundation for monitoring changes in resilience and preparedness over time
